Multi-objective Optimization of HMGF Process Parameters for Manufacturing AA6063 Stepped Tubes using FEM-RSM

In this paper, the loading path was optimized in hot metal gas forming (HMGF) process for making AA6063 cylindrical stepped tubes. For purpose, response surface method (RSM) and finite element (FEM) were applied using Design-Expert ABAQUS softwares, respectively. The parameters of internal pressure, pressure rate, axial feeding, punch speed examined based on central-composite design three levels. maximum die filling minimum tube thinning percentages selected as objective functions. analysis variance showed that their interaction most significant parameter thinning. optimum at temperature 550 oC obtained about 7 bars, rate 0.01 bar/s, feeding mm from each side 0.02 mm/s. Experimental tests performed specified parameters. numerical results validated by experimental testing.
